Bhopal: Tension prevailed at Bhopal railway station on Thursday morning when some unidentified miscreants allegedly removed a poster of Dr BR Ambedkar on his 125th birth anniversary.
Members of All India SC/ST Railway Employees' Association reached GRP police station and lodged a written complaint. Talking to TOI, association secretary Naresh Anand said the association had put up three banners on the station premises to celebrate Dr Ambedkar's birth anniversary on Thursday morning.
"The banners were put up at reservation counter, drivers' lobby and the association office. However, when we gathered at the station lobby after sometime to place a photograph of Dr Ambedkar, one of the banners was missing." The association members approached the police and filed a complaint. "We examined CCTV footage, which showed three miscreants removing the poster," said Anand. Railway police assured them that stern action would be taken against the miscreants.
Talking to TOI, western central railway GM Ramesh Chandra said, "Nobody has contacted me over the issue till now. I will look into the matter and take necessary action on receiving a complaint." DRM Alok Kumar said, "The railways employees' union elections were held recently, after which railway workers carried out a cleanliness drive on Thursday and removed posters and banners across the station premises. During the drive, one of the banners was temporarily removed. It was put up at the same spot later.
There was no intention to hurt anybody's sentiments. But, if there is any foul play the department will initiate proper action."
